Building a real life with a real God Part 2: Building a Heart for God Psalm 147 Introduction: The Focus: A majestic picture of God The Structure: 20 verses 9 verse introduction (vs 1-9) 9 verse conclusion (vs 12-20) 2 verse warning (vs 10-11) The Warning: vs 10-11 •God finds no delight in our strength (v10) The issue: Making much of ourselves •God finds delight in those who fear and hope in Him (v 11) The issue: Make much of God Making much of God: •vs 4: He determines the number of stars and calls them by name. 1 Light Year = 6,000,000,000,000 miles 1989: Harvard astronomers discover ‘The Great Wall’ •Clump of 15,000 Galaxies •500,000,000 light years long •200,000,000 light years wide •15,000,000 light years deep 1990: Astronomers discover 12 evenly distributed ‘clumps’ of which ‘The Great Wall’ is but one. •vs 6: He lifts up and tears down/sustains and judges •vs 8-9: He provides for the needs of the earth •vs 16-17: He blasts the earth with icy blasts •vs 19-20: He reveals Himself through His word •40 authors •3 written languages •1600 years •2930 different characters •1551 different geological sites One central theme: Salvation •Must published book •Most translated book in the world •Most surrounding literature •Survival time/criticism/persecution He sends His Son: (John 1:14; 17:4; 13:31; Philippians 2:9-11) Bottom Line: Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Everything in creation...
