4 & 5 Year Olds Class
Class Structure Olivet Christian Preschool offers an integrated program through the framework of Creative Curriculum® that helps your child develop his or her learning potential. The emphasis is on developmental readiness as your child learns to work and to play with other children. Your child can develop by using the learning centers and participating in the smaller group times.
The Learning Centers found in our main room include a home living/dramatic play center, art center, sand/water and Lego® tables, play dough, blocks, puzzles, books, discovery, writing, and games.
Group Time is an opportunity for your child to participate in short, developmentally-appropriate activities including music and movement, readiness, physical education, and science. Our teachers use various methods in introducing concepts of patterns, numbers, alphabet, writing, opposites, rhyming, safety, verbal language skills, etc.
Topics of Study include safety, heath and nutrition, animals, transportation, seasons, manners, etc. Christian choruses, Bible verses, and Bible stories are included with our teaching material to help develop wholesome spiritual attitudes.
Field Trips are taken to such places as the fire station, play house or the nature center. We ask parents to volunteer to come in and share their talents and resources with us.
Conferences are scheduled for the four year olds in the fall and spring.
Schedule
The Preschool offers two options: 8:45 – 11:45 AM or 12:30 - 3:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring vacations are provided.
Tuition
Tuition is $200 a month and must be prepaid, due the first week of each month. There is no credit for missed days. The only exception is for 2 consecutive weeks of illness, validated by a doctor. Tuition will be prorated for this period of time Scholarships are available to qualified applicants. The application form must be completed and approved by the Preschool Board. The Registration Fee is $50.00.
Note: Olivet Christian Preschool is a participant in the statewide voluntary preschool and is able to offer free tuition to 4 year olds as state funds become available.
Registration
To secure a slot in the preschool the registration form should be filled out and returned with the $50.00 registration fee. You will be notified by email that your child has been enrolled in the preschool. To qualify, your child must turn 4 years old by September 15th to be in our 4 year old class, otherwise they may join our 3 year olds class.
Health
State law requires the preschool to have on file for each child, a physical examination report signed by a physician and a valid Iowa Certificate of Immunization. These must be turned in the first week of preschool. The immunizations must include a vaccination against haemophilus influenza type b and chicken pox. The card must be completely filled out including birth dates, doctor signature, parent’s signature and source. The physical examination is valid for one year and must be renewed if necessary.
